Since I answered the consultation call as a customer service agent, I have encountered an unknown number of customers asking: How to deal with the oil fume produced by the heating and melting of polyethylene (or other thermoplastic resins)? At present, a two-stage activated carbon adsorption device is used, which cannot filter the oil in the exhaust gas, and the oil is sucked into the fan.
Because I have received many such calls, I would like to know why so many customers use activated carbon boxes to treat plastic waste gas? We simply searched the Internet for several renovation projects that we have done, only to find that the waste gas treatment methods suggested in the EIA reports of these client companies are all secondary or tertiary activated carbon adsorption. However, after using it for two or three years, they found that this process could not handle the fumes at all, so they called us again to learn about the rectification plan.
The waste gas produced by polyethylene, a thermoplastic resin, during the heating process is strictly speaking an oily waste gas, also known as oily waste gas, which is a mixture of soot and waste gas. Some plastic processing machinery, such as the exhaust gas produced by injection molding machines, has very little oil fume content, so it is basically no problem to use activated carbon adsorption process (but if the emission standards are strict, electrostatic treatment process still needs to be considered). However, some plastic processing machinery, such as granulator, extruder, film blowing machine, blow molding machine, etc., have high oil fume content. It is unreasonable to use activated carbon adsorption process alone. It must be combined with industrial electrostatic oil fume purifier.

The company's granulation line produces oil fume and VOCS. At that time, activated carbon equipment was already in use to process VOCS, but the customer felt that the effect was not good and wanted to process oil fume separation equipment at the front end. After on-site investigation by our engineers, a one-to-one purification plan was formulated for it. The plan uses a dual-stage plasma purification system and a dual-stage electrostatic purifier as the core purification equipment, and pre-cooling and pretreatment equipment. After the transformation is completed, the concentration of particulate matter at the exhaust outlet of the granulation workshop is less than 30 mg/m³, and the concentration of non-methane total hydrocarbons is less than 100 mg/m³.
